Hi everyone!

Even though I want more social media followers, I thought I should do better by the ones I have. *insert drunk emoji face*

Thank you to my first 10k or so for rocking with me. I feel like I know a lot of you personally. And even if we’ve transitioned to just social media friends, I still appreciate you. Social media is one of my most favorite things in the world.

Here are some updates from 2021:

In January, my mentor and business partner started a creative agency and named me its Head of Social PR. We’ve created highly visual content, served on numerous pitches, and have seen astronomical growth for our clients across different industries using social media. It’s been so much fun crafting with my atus sisters, and the fact that we drive revenue is the icing on the cake!

Ironically, the icing is what matters most on a cake. Companies who want to explore Social PR: click here.

Baseball is here, and I didn’t plan to be home in Champaign for the entire season! However, on a high note, it has given me a chance to really double down, figure out the figure-out-able, and spend some time with my family. I appreciate my tribe and my community. Thank you to those who came to any of our T-Ball, Peanut, Farm or Suited League games and events at McFarland Field this year. COVID-19 was managed within our League, and it’s because of First String’s board, coaches, parents, players and volunteers alike. Thank you.

This summer, another thing I’ll be working on with my atus team is to find nice entrepreneurs. We have all been selected to deal screen (among other venture) for High Street Equity Partners. HSEP will embark on an inaugural $15m fund for early-investment and scaling stage companies with Black and brown entrepreneurs in underrepresented areas. With Chicago (or Illinois) being one of them, eligible companies have $100k revenue (or our team will connect you to resources to get what you need), and will send a visible pitch deck.

I’m looking forward to getting back to Atlanta this Fall, celebrating my birthday (vaxxed up), house hunting, doing great publicity, finding eligible entrepreneurs, and crafting bomb social-editorial content. I’ll be flying in/out of Champaign-Urbana for the next month or so.

Again, thank you for being in my audience so far. This may be cheesy, but I’m a corny mf. If you have any comments ever, Lmk!

Until the next like,

I was asked to participate in this series and was honored to be a part. Looking back at my childhood, I learned from and was exposed to a lot being bused outside of my neighborhood. Although- I've always wondered what it would have been like to attend the same school as my mom, blocks within my home.

This was the start of the Champaign Campaign and my work in the community of CU. With the help of local organizations and other businesses, I was able to expose more kids to the sport of baseball in an otherwise marginalized part of town.
